In The News

  • Fire Update, Week of 5/4 - 5/8

    Hello again PFI Customers,

While our physical space continues to get closer to pre-fire conditions, our production capacity is still lagging behind.

We now have our Peterboro re-stock fully checked in and put away. As of the end of last week all of the 32x40 mats from our Crescent order are fully stocked in new cardboard bins. That means that length moulding, glass, foam, accessories, Peterboro Mats and Crescent 32x40s are mostly back to pre-fire availability. We are still waiting on some of the slower selling specialty boards and much of our Bainbridge inventory.

It’s important to understand that we are facing an unprecedented surge of orders for everything and that we continue to operate with a single saw and staff shortages. We are producing chops and joins but it’s difficult to judge lead times in this situation. If you need to order a chop or join, expect it to take at least a week to be ready.

Our 40x60 Crescent mats remain in limbo. The storage area for those items was wholly wrecked in the fire and we are working to resolve that situation. However, we do not have a firm time table for getting those materials. We are also continuing to source parts for our new metal saw but we remain unable to restart that service at this time.

It has been 36 days since the fire; that we have come this far is a testament to the dedication and hard work of our leadership and staff. Please continue to bear with us as we bring these last few services online and continue to increase our production capacity. Your support and loyalty is crucial at this time and we sincerely thank you for it!

  • Fire Update, Week of 4/27 - 5/1

    Hello Again PFI Customers,

It's starting to look like a functional distribution center around here, depending on where you look. All of our delivery trucks will be making their rounds this week. Length moulding, foamcore, glass/plexi and accessory items are currently available for pickup and delivery. Chops and Joins are being produced but we are operating with just one saw with a second coming online soon. Given demand and our order back log we are not taking additional orders for cut frames for this week, but you can put them in for next week. We remain unable to cut metal moulding but length is available.

Regarding matboards, we have begun to receive and organize our restock orders. However, we are focused on meeting the influx of demand since we re-opened last week (as well as backorders) and it will take time and care to organize the new mats and work through our procedures to ensure that we are delivering the quality we know our customers rely on. We will not be pulling mats for any orders Monday, Tuesday this week. If your delivery day is Mon-Wed please don't expect any matboards until next week. We will be working to be ready to process mats toward the end of this week, certainly next week, but it's too early to commit to a firm date.

Thanks again for your patience and support!

  • Fire Update, Week of 4/20 - 4/24

Hello again. Please accept our ongoing thanks for your patience and understanding as we continue to move through this process. Starting today (4/20) our phone and online ordering system will be back on. We will be taking new orders for pickups this week and for delivery to all routes, which will begin next week. While we now have an operable saw for chops and joins, our production capacity is limited to just that one saw but also by the large amount of back orders we continue to work through. Please limit your production orders to the most vital items if you're ordering for this week or next and we will do what we can. There will be no limit on length moulding, glass or foam. We have decided to replace all of our matboard boxes which will slow our restock somewhat. We are currently not offering any mats and cannot give a firm timeline on when that issue will be resolved. Keep an eye on this section for updates on mats. If you have any questions or are ready to place an order please reach out to us at the main line or via customerservice@pictureandframe.com.

    Update 4/21:

    - We are unable to cut aluminum moulding at this time. We do not have a firm timeline on getting a replacement saw for cutting this material so stay tuned for updates but expect an extended delay in the availablilty of cut metal frames.

    - Given the immense backlog of chops and joins we are facing, orders for pickups including these items won't be ready until after 5/1. We are working as dilligently as possible to accomodate chops and joins for delivery customers but even those orders can't be guaranteed yet.

  • Fire Update, Week of 4/13 - 4/17

    Hello PFI Customers.

Thank you for bearing with us as we continue to recover from the fire. There are still a lot of moving pieces in this process, so it remains difficult to fully commit to a timeline for re-opening. Here is a rough outline of our intentions:

    - All our matboards are being replaced. We are expecting delivery of new stock sometime next week. Between now and the time that delivery is received, checked in, and stocked, we have no matboard available.

    - It appears that our inventory of foam, glass and supply items are okay.

    - We are working on processes to minimize dirt and odor for our existing moulding inventory. Replacing moulding takes months not weeks so our intention is to clean up or repackage to avoid a lengthy interruption.

    - Electricians are working on restoring power to our mitre saws today (4/13) so we should soon have capacity to begin offering some chop and joins.

    - We are optimistic that we will be able to fill orders for pick-up later this week.

    - If everything stays on track, we hope to begin delivery service starting next week (4/20 – 4/24). This will likely include our Kansas City area delivery customers first with more distant routes coming online in subsequent weeks as we restore capacity.

    - We are working on a process to begin sorting and filling the orders we have in-house for pickup customers. If you’re in the Metro someone will reach out to you to confirm any items you have on order. We are still not accepting new orders but we hope to have a timeline for restoring that service soon.

All of these hopes and plans remain contingent upon an ongoing inspection and permitting processes. These are the plans we are working toward today and as they change we will do our best to keep you up to date. Please reach out to customerservice@pictureandframe.com for questions regarding orders. You can contact ben@pictureandframe.com for general questions. Please note that we do not have additional information about timelines.

    Thanks again,

    PFI Management and Staff

  • We have Power!

Good Morning all. Today we have power restored to most of the building and some staff is back in-house. Our main focus at the moment is clean up. The decision has been made to scrap our entire mat inventory due to smoke damage. We anticipate a delay of approximately two weeks to replace those mats. Boxed items like Foam and Glass should be ok as is. We are still assessing the wood moulding inventory but so far the outlook there is promising.

The most important next step is going to be restoring power to our remaining saw and replacing some of the damaged equipment. We anticipate having an operable saw by early next week. Beyond that there are some immediate repairs to the facility that will need to be done as well as getting the place cleaned up. While we are optimistic that we can resume some level of operations next week, there are still a lot of variables to be resolved.

Thanks again for your concern, patience and understanding. We are working hard to restore service as soon as we can.

  • Warehouse Fire

PFI's warehouse experienced a fire overnight on the weekend of 3/28. Since the incident occurred outside of operating hours our staff are all safe. Our power has not yet been restored, meaning our system is entirely down. Orders sent via the Online Order Form, Email or Voicemail will not be processed until the power is back on. We are expecting power to be restored sometime this week (4/6 - 4/10). There are additional hurdles for us to navigate before we are back to full operations and it remains difficult to put an accurate timeline on restoring our full capacity.

We will continue to update this page as we have new information.

Our sincere thanks to everyone who has expressed their concern for the safety of our staff. We will continue to work to resolve this issue and get back to earning your business with great service and competitive prices.
  • Price Update, Update

We are pushing back the rollout of our updated price lists from 3/1 to 3/15. Keep an eye out for new pricing on Moulding, Mats and Glass in mid-March!

  • International Closeouts

We have added several newly discontinued International Mouldings to the "While Supplies Last" collection with CLOSEOUT pricing listed. There are some good ones in there that, for whatever reason, have not sold very well at PFI. Take a look if you're interested in adding some inventory at a great price!

We will monitor any items that are discontinued by the vendor yet still well stocked at PFI, and update the pricing documents and POS updates as our stock is depleted. Stay up to date with your POS or our pricing docs to avoid selling mouldings you won't be able to get!

  • Updated Price Lists

There is a new PFI Pricelist dated 1-29-26. This version includes some deletions but no price changes. New pricing for 2026 should start to come online around 3/1, so keep an eye out for that.

  • Updated Pricelist

There is a new PFI pricelist dated 1-14-26. This contains some deletions but no price changes. The  Excel version of the pricelist and Calculator is also updated. We will have price increases coming in the first half of the year, but not yet.

  • Price List Changes

Happy New Year! Just a heads up that I've made a few updates to the "ONLINE ORDERING / PRICING" sections. An updated Excel version of the entire pricelist is available in "Other Documents" as well as new PDFs for PFI, Crescent and Accessories. These are to accomodate new mouldings and delete some fringe mat and supply items that are no longer available. Versions dated 1/22/25 do not represent any price changes, just new items and housekeeping. Thanks.

    -Ben

  • 2023 Q3 Price Update

    Hello Everyone,

As of this week we have pushed a modest price increase across all of our mouldings, wood and metal. An update for your POS should be live within a day or two. We continue to strive to offer some of the best pricing in this industry. • WE MADE IT ... 2022 IS HERE!

2022 is officially begun. Here in Kansas City we launched the year with our first wintery blast ... thank you Mother Nature for setting us straight.

2021 was certainly a roller coaster ride and we suspect 2022 will be similar but now we have some knowledge on how to deal with the "issues". Everyone at PFI thanks you for your support and patience.

  • POINT OF SALE PRICING UPDATED

Hello from the "Boulevard" in Kansas City.

We will be closed completely for inventory and system update on Friday October 15, 2021. Plan ahead if possible because the office will be completely closed as well. There will not be any pick up service, however, we will be making our scheduled Friday deliveries. All normal business activities will resume on Monday October 18, 2021.

  • INVENTORY UPDATE

We want to alert you to the current stocking situatiion with regards to wood mouldings. Our industry (not just PFI) is currently experiencing lengthy delays on import orders. Today virtually all wood moulding is imported. Importing lead times have gone from 100 days to 200 days. Our foreign manufacturers are dealing with Covid related situations far different from what we have been dealing with in the United States.

While frustrating for everyone, we are doing everything in our power to get the supply levels back to pre-pandemic as soon as possible. That being said we still expect the condition to last through the summer. Our customer service team will do their best to help find suitable alternatives when an out of stock situation arises. This is also impacting our corner sample department. We continue to fill sample orders as the inventory and manpower allows. Any items missed on a sample order are being placed on a separate back order form and will processed when product becomes available to us.

Customers with projects that require significant quantities of a moulding will find it increasingly difficult. As always, we will do our very best to accommodate your needs.

With your support and patience we will get through these uncertain times.

Picture & Frame appreciates all of you!

  • WEATHER RELATED ISSUES

Update ... like the rest of the country we are experiencing major weather issues here in the Kansas City area. The unprecedent cold combined with snow and high winds have made our conditions terrible. PFI has no water into the building ... think about that and basic sanitary issues for our staff. Today (Tuesday Feb 16) we are short six employees (that includes of  all members of our saw team). We also have the real possibility of "Rolling Power Outages". Consequently, we have decided that there will be NO DELIVERIES today or tomorrow. We are constantly monitoring the delivery situation for the balance of the week and will work to keep you informed to the best of our abilities. It truly is day by day, hour by hour.

Thank you for your patience and understanding. Stay safe.

  • CRESCENT DISCONTIUED MATBOARD LIST

Earlier this month Crescent announced their plan to discontinue a number of matboards from their various product lines ... don't panic! I have been assured that they have considerable inventory. PFI's plan is to continue to order all these matboards as our inventory warrants. Our order cycle is approximately every three to four weeks. When we order and Crescent indicates an out as "Gone", we then mark the item as "Gone" in our system. Why so many discontinued items ... mainly, it's slow sellers or that they lost their paper supplier. If it really sold, they wouldn't be discontinuing it.

Side note ... obviously our industry is experiencing some pretty dramatic changes and challenges. Our overseas moudling manufactures are dealing with the same Covid issues that we are in the states. Container ship tranportation is SLOW, adding weeks in many cases to the "normal" delivery cycle which is about 4 months. The trucking industry has a shortage of drivers, causing longer than expected lead times for freight delivery. Elmers/Enocre foamboard was purchased by 3A Composites, Crescent just annouced their purchase of Nielsen/Bainbridge/Nurre Caxton ... very exciting. However, all of things things will take time to sort out. We know this all too well from our experience in purchasing, first, The Williamson Co and more recently the purchase of New West.  Stay patient, stay calm ... our customer service team is here to support you and keep you as informed as we can. If we don't have an answer we will work to get you one.

  • TRU-VUE ANNOUNCES PRODUCT DISCONTINUATIONS

Tru-Vue has given us notice that they plan to eliminate some of the less popular sizes of 2MM Clear and Premium Clear Glass. This is in addition to their Beveled Mirrors, which were discontinued in late 2020. On our price list we have indicated these items with the designation *While Supplies Last. If you have questions please contact us.

  • PFI RESUMES DELIVERY SERVICE

Everyone here wants to thank you for your patience and understanding as we've dealt with our Covid situation. At this point, we are pleased to inform you that we will resume our regular delivery service effective the week of Monday January 4 2021.

This will certainly be a year we will never forget. Again, thank you for your support throughout the year.

Mask up, stay safe and here's to a brighter 2021.

While continuing to experience longer lead times from our suppliers that has impacted our stock status on some items, we do believe this to be a temporary situation. The PFI team will continue to work with you to find appropriate product substitutions as specific situations arise. Our goal is to ensure customer satisfaction to the best of our ability.

We appreciate your continued support. Best regards and stay well.

  • UPDATE FROM CUSTOMER SERVICE

As we continue working through the COVID pandemic we have implimented some new internal practices. Please be aware that we shutdown our customer service phones and pick up service during the lunch hour (12pm - 1pm CDT). Basically, this allows for lunch (30 min) & a catch up period (30 min). If you call in during this time the call should connect to our general voice mail box. Please leave a message and we will call you back.

Regrettably, our building, including the office and showroom are still closed to customers & visitors. We are erring on the side of caution, trying to minimize our staff, their families and our customers risk of exposure. A postive test by any employee would certainly have a negitive impact on our ability to serve our customers.

If you have any questions, please call.

  • WELCOME BACK - SLOWLY

    Hello from The Bouvelard.

We are slowly beginning the re-opening process. Our doors will remain locked and we will not let anyone in other than authorized personnel. However, we are doing curbside pick up. Call the office when you arrive and we will bring your order to your vehicle. Call before travelling down to PFI to make sure your order has been completed. We are not completely staffed so please allow for extra time when placing and picking up. Delivery routes are slowly beginning also, but on a slightly different schedule from pre-covid. Call and check with us. Delivery customers - place orders as early as possible.

Lastly, (in case it wasn't mentioned above) please place orders in early as possible .... we never want to disappoint but we really need 2 full work days to complete items that are cut and / or joined to insure accuracy and that we have the products available (many of our suppliers are still closed or are slowly re-opening too and sometimes we need to offer subs.

  • PFI BUYS NEW WEST

Picture & Frame is purchasing New West, effective November 1, 2019.We are very excited about this opportunity and will continue to do business under the name Picture & Frame Industries (PFI).

We want to thank Tom Dunn of New West for all his hard work and years of service to this region. We wish him much success in his future endeavors.

Our staff is preparing our building for the increase in product offerings and the additional employees from New West coming to work for PFI. Together we want to make the transition of two companies into one as seamless as possible.

PFI will expand our range of products to include the offerings of the "old" New West Company. These products will include: International Moulding, Nurre Caxton Moulding, Nielsen Bainbridge and Peterboro Matboards.

We anticipate many questions and will work hard to answer any and all to the best of our abilities, but for now it's all "in motion". We will have more detailed answers to your specific questions in the upcoming day and weeks.

A special thanks to all of you for your continued support and patience.
